Why can't I add communication credits to my Office365 tenancy?

Essentially, adding Communications Credits when your tenancy is procured through a Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) is a bit more involved. You can't just go in and buy the credits as it doesn't appear on the subscriptions page as per the instructions here.
Fortunately, there is a simple workaround - enable an E5 trial license on your tenancy. Once that's enabled, you can go in to 'Billing' and 'Purchase Services' and the communication credits will now be available to you under the 'Add on Subscriptions' tab.
It's not obvious, but it does work.
